STRATA AFTER SCHOOL

Before and After School Programs | TK–Grade 5

Strata Learning After School programs support children beyond the academic day through intentional structure, enrichment, and strong relationships. The program is designed to complement the school day, not extend it.

Enrichment Experiences

Enrichment at Strata After School supports the whole child. Experiences are designed to build confidence, curiosity, and practical life skills alongside academic growth.

Core enrichment areas include:

  • STEAM: Hands-on experiments, design challenges, and problem-solving activities that build critical thinking and curiosity.

  • Movement and Sports:Games and structured activities that support coordination, teamwork, physical health, and sportsmanship.

  • Social-Emotional Learning:Group activities and discussions that support empathy, communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution.

  • Mindfulness and Well-Being:Yoga, breathing, and mindfulness activities that support focus, self-awareness, and emotional regulation.

  • Special Events and Community Experiences:School-wide events and service projects that build connection, leadership, and cultural awareness.

Homework Support

Homework support is offered as a structured part of the afternoon routine. Students have dedicated time to begin assignments in a calm, focused environment that supports effort, organization, and confidence.

Homework time focuses on:

  • Understanding assignments and expectations

  • Developing consistent study habits

  • Managing time, materials, and tasks

  • Building confidence through effort and practice

During homework support, educators may:

  • Help students get started and clarify directions

  • Support planning and organization

  • Answer questions and reinforce understanding

  • Encourage focus while respecting individual pacing

Homework needs and completion vary by child, grade level, and daily energy. Families remain responsible for reviewing finished work at home.

On-Site Environment

Strata Before and After School programs are located directly on school campuses, supporting seamless transitions at the start and end of the day.

  • Convenience: Programs operate on the same campuses students attend during the school day. Children do not travel off-site, and no transportation is required.

  • Smooth Daily Transitions: Students move directly from the classroom into Strata care, maintaining familiar routines and expectations.

  • Familiar Spaces: Children remain in an environment they know, reducing transitions and supporting comfort and regulation.

  • Easy Access to Materials: Being on campus allows students to access classrooms and belongings as needed without disrupting the flow of the day.

These features provide a hassle-free experience for both you and your child, ensuring they are safe and you are at ease.

Hearty Snacks

Snacks are part of the daily rhythm in Strata Before and After School programs and support energy, focus, and connection. Nutritious snacks are provided each day and are intentionally integrated into the afternoon routine rather than treated as a break from it. Snack time offers opportunities for social interaction, conversation, and shared responsibility. Students practice routines such as preparing their space, cleaning up, and engaging respectfully with peers, reinforcing independence and community norms in a natural setting. When appropriate, cooking and food-based activities are incorporated as hands-on enrichment experiences. These moments allow students to explore basic food science, follow multi-step processes, and collaborate with peers while building curiosity and practical skills. Snacks remain grounded in care, routine, and learning without becoming a separate instructional block.

Experienced Staff

Strata Before and After School programs are led by experienced educators and program leaders who prioritize consistency, relationships, and thoughtful supervision. Low staff turnover allows children to see familiar faces each day and build trust over time, which is essential for engagement, comfort, and belonging. Educators approach their work with intention and care. They create inclusive environments where children feel respected, supported, and known. Staff focus on building positive group culture, supporting peer relationships, and helping students navigate the social and emotional dynamics of the school-age years. Safety and preparedness are foundational. All staff are CPR and First Aid certified and participate in ongoing training throughout the year. Professional development supports best practices in supervision, behavior guidance, enrichment facilitation, and child development, ensuring programs remain responsive and well-run. Families entrust Strata with an important part of their child’s day. Our teams take that responsibility seriously and work collaboratively to create a stable, supportive environment where children can learn, connect, and grow.

WHAT FAMILIES ARE SAYING

We feel incredibly lucky to have found Happy Hall. From day one, the staff welcomed our family with open arms and made us feel right at home. Our son has grown so much. He’s more confident, social, and engaged. They go beyond academics, helping kids develop respect and kindness toward others. We’ve looked at other programs, but Happy Hall’s approach stands out because they genuinely focus on each child’s strengths and needs. It’s a special place, and we’re grateful to be part of it.
